ベルリンへ　Back to berlin

日本での３週間はあっというまに過ぎて、とうとう明日ベルリンに戻ります。ひさびさの日本はとても楽しかったです。ラアナンにとっては初めての日本。観光ももちろん楽しかったですが、今回はワークショプをできたこと、ひさしぶりに家族とのんびり過ごせたこと、そして東京の友達に会ってラアナンを紹介できたことがやっぱり一番でした。年に一度はこうやって帰ってこれたらなぁと思います。飛行機が辛いけど。。次はぜひ桜が咲いている時期に来たいです（上の写真は皇居のお堀散歩をした時に見かけたもの。桜かしら？）。

一時帰国中の東京観光日記を読んでくださった方、ありがとうございます。ベルリンに戻って落ち着いたらまたいつものビオなベルリンブログになりますので、どうぞまたよろしくお願いします。

欲張りすぎてスーツケースが１５０％フルです。やっぱりお土産は食材が多いです。またレシピの更新がんばります。それにしても日本はほんとにおいしいものがたくさんありますね。食べ過ぎました。ベルリンに帰ったら粗食生活を始めます。

Going back! Back to life, back to reality. After a long time in Japan, almost a month, we are heading back home to Berlin.
I have to say i enjoyed a lot here. It's a great place, with great people. And Rie's family is amazing :-)
Thank you tokyo, thank you Japan, thank you mina-san, see you next year!

皇居と千代田区歩き　Tokyo imperial palace

ラアナン父が昔（２０年くらい前）日本に来た時に衝撃を受けた秋葉原の電気街。息子に「絶対行くべきだよ！」と大レコメンド。なので行ってきました。うちの実家から今では電車一本で２０分程で行けるのです。出かける度に乗り換えのために秋葉原に来てはいたけど電気街を歩くのは今回が初めてでした。小さなお店がマーケットのようにずらっと並んだ横町をさらっと見て（長居するとこでもないので。。）、お昼ご飯に。神田まつや。久しぶりにきました。本当においしいおそば屋さん。そばておいしい！と再確認させてくれるお店。ラアナンは親子丼。かなり気に入ってました。二人で大満足。ちょうどおそばを打ってるとこも見れました。

その後、神田から九段下まで歩いてラアナンの夢の武道館を見に行ってきました。というのはラアナンが小さい頃遊んだ剣道やらヌンチャクやらで鍛えてレベルを上げて最後に武道館で試合する、というコンピューターゲームがもと。武道館が本当に存在するということを知った時から（私が教えたの）一度行ってみたかったらしいのです。行ってみて大ショック！この日武道館ではなにかのコンサートをやるらしく、大きな看板が武道館に貼付けてありました。ラアナン曰く「こんなの武道館じゃない！試合しなくちゃ！」と残念がってました。そいえばコンサートもするんですよね、ここ。

気を取り直して、皇居のお堀歩きを始めました。武道館から桜田門までぐるっと。途中、東京駅を見たり、二重橋（上の大きな写真）を見たり、天気が良くて歩くのが楽しい日でした。桜田門まで来て、もう少し歩くと国会議事堂です。小学校の社会科見学で来た以来（あれ？中学校だったかしら？）。あの時は中にも入ったなぁ。

そして溜池山王は目と鼻の先です。せっかくここまで来たんだから行ってみよう！てことでイスラエル人経営のファラフェル屋さんPITA THE GREATまで足を伸ばしました。ピタもお店で作っているというので行ってみたかったのです。で、やっと着いたら改装中でお休み！かなり歩き疲れていたのでがっかりでした。。ピタ、食べたかった。。ファラフェルも。。

と、よく歩いた日でした。おそらく８kmぐらい歩きました。皇居、予約をすると中に入って見学できるそうですが、今日の午後の回は気づいた時にはもうフルでした。皇居の周りはさすがに外国からの観光客がけっこういました。お堀、塀、門と見所たくさんです。運悪く皇居東御苑は月曜と金曜はお休みで入ることができませんでした。ピタと合わせて次回（いつになるやら）また挑戦したいです。

So, We saw the budokan. For those of you who don't know, the Japanese government are very influenced by computer games, that they actually built a building for martial arts shows right in the center of tokyo, and named it budokan, after the famous "budokan" computer game. They even made it look like the original in the game:
Ok... to be more serious about this none-serious matter, I knew the name budokan from a 1989 computer game about martial arts. It turns out this building exists! So, we went to see it. We wanted to go inside too, but for some reason they also host music live shows there (even rie's sister played there once!!), and today was a show of a group i don't know, but probably a famous one in Japan. So we sadly couldn't go in. But it looks totally awesome from the outside too!
The area we went to was the tokyo imperial palace, the home of the japanese emperor. The emperor is nowadays just a symbol of Japan, and has no real influence over the country. But they are proud of him. I guess... Coz they gave him one big piece of land right in the center of tokyo with amazingly huge and beautiful gardens and with the best view in town during spring. The famous cherry blossom. We didn't get to see it yet, because it officially starts on the 24th on march (the japanese government has a direct connection to the trees, they only start growing then). But one tree was blooming, and it was marvelous!
We took the "long way" and went around the entire island (the palace is located on an island, surrounded by what was a protective artificial lake. Today it's just green.
At the end, we got to the government main building, the japanese "white house" so to say, (or kneset, of course :-) ) We couldn't go in there either... So, we decided to go to the one place we COULD go into in this area, which was an israeli Falafel place called "Pita The Great". I actually don't know if it's israely, but it figures...Because this guy is selling Falafel mix, Hummus, Harisa, and pita bread. And this combination exists nowhere except for in israel. They exist separately in other countries, of course :-)
So, guess what? it was closed. I hope it's not permanently closed, because it looked like being under construction... So, no pita for us. And no Falafel... We actually made falafel at home, which was rather good!

So, at the end of this day, we came back home, very very tired, and with lot's of pictures of me and the budokan...

谷根千歩き　Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi

私の好きなエリアです。ラアナン曰く、ごく普通の街並だそうです。外国から来たらこのエリアの良さは分かりづらいのかもしれませんね。東京に住んでたり、よく知っていたりすると、このエリアがどれだけ雰囲気よく下町風情が残されて、新しいものと共存してるかっていうのがよく分かるのですけれど。といいつつ、私たちは今までで一番たくさんお土産をこの日に買ったのでした。いせ辰で折り紙やら木版刷りのきれいな紙やら（５月に引っ越しするので新居に額装して飾るのです）、東大のおしゃれなスーベニールショップで古地図やら（地図好きラアナンがこれも額装して飾ると買ったもの。今飾ってるベルリンの古地図の横に。）、いろいろ。楽しく良く歩いた日です。歩いていると小さな素敵なお店がたくさんあって、本当にこのエリア、好きだなぁと再確認。日暮里駅から始まって千駄木経由で根津に行き、根津神社（写真）ももちろん寄って、それから東大、赤門を見て、お茶の水まで行きました。お茶の水は、私、大好き。中学生の時も高校生の時も塾やら予備校やらなにかとお茶の水に行くことが多かったし、なによりあの辺りの中古レコード屋さんに本当によく通った。音楽好きラアナン曰く、お茶の水はヘブンだそうです。楽器屋さんが多いので。彼はMIDIケーブルを探していて、何軒か楽器屋さんに入るたびに立ち止まって、いろいろ楽しそうにいじったりしてました。

そんなラアナン、都内でパフォーマンスすることになりました。またまた音楽好きでギター弾きの義兄とベルリンでセッションしてから、日本でもやろうねと意気投合した二人、日本に来てからもお家でセッション。そんな義兄が１２日に吉祥寺でライブパフォーマンスをするので、そこにラアナンもラップトップで参加することになったのです。初めての日本でパフォーマンス。彼にとって貴重な経験になると思います。楽しみです。詳細は以下。お時間のある方、ぜひどうぞ。

Hey everybody!
First, i want to apologise for not writing yesterday about this AMAZING garden we've been to. There were turtles standing on rocks, a kind of cherry blossom, cat-fish all over, and amazing (and surprisingly clean) path to walk on. In the middle of this huge city.
So, I am going to play some music in tokyo! Really exciting for me... Rie's sister's husband (Brother in law... :-)) is an amazing guitar player, and he has this small band called "system error", which is actually him and another guy playing percussion. We jammed a little and it seems like i fit with computer looping and a little bit of electronica, so we will be playing at the "Black and Blue" live bar, on the 12th of march and probably one more gig on the 21st in a different venue. If you are in tokyo (well, i guess you are not, but hey, worth to try) come by!
And about today's tokyo location, i am getting a little confused with the names. All of them are extremely japanese for me, and since i am not used to it, and i don't know what they mean, Akihabara is the same as Asakusa which is mixing with Shinjuku. I mean, i know where I've been, but i don't remember the name... And this is the same as the place we've been to yesterday. Rie's good friend, an amazing artist and illustrator took us on an urban trip in Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi (i guess, it's written on the top as the title! :-) ). I am saying urban, because it wasn't the regular touristic attraction. If i remember correctly i didn't see any foreigner (except for the Waiter in the indian restaurant... Namaste!) on the streets. She took use on a long walk through the streets of the region, we saw an amazing temple (i was seriously sure that japanese have no religion... They don't! but they still have lots of temples where they through their one-yen coins to and make wishes...), we toured around nice local small shops, and arrived eventually to tokyo's paradise, which again, i don't remember it's name. I am saying paradise, because this place was full of music instruments' shops. Full is actually too little. Shop after shop after shop, all offering guitars, synths, drums, strings, you know, the works. In tel aviv there used to be a street for carpenters and a street for lamps and chandeliers. Here, they have a street for music instruments and electronic shops. And lot's more...

清澄庭園　Kiyosumi garden

日本庭園を見に行きました。江東区にある清澄庭園。街中にぽつんと突然ある日本庭園は、入ってのんびり歩いてると都内にいることを忘れてしまうくらいです。思ったより小さくて１０分もあれば一周できる庭園です。だけどとても雰囲気が良いので３０分くらいかけてゆっくり歩きました。

池を覗くと大きな鯉やらカモ（？）やらがいて、池の石の上ではカメがたくさん日光浴をしてました。じっと動かず。日が沈むまでこうして毎日石の上にいるんでしょうね。辛抱強い。それとも寝ているんでしょうか？
この庭園の奥にある広場のような所に咲いていた真ピンクの花（カンヒザクラというそうです）がとてもきれいでした。ベンチとテーブルがいくつかあってピクニックしている人なんかもいて。普通の公園もいいけど、わざわざ日本庭園に来てみるのはやはり一味違っていいですね。

サクラといえば、清澄庭園のすぐ横にあるSacra cafeに寄ってお茶もしました。オーガニックのお茶やコーヒーが充実していて、ナチュラル素材にこだわったお店です。温かいみかんジュース（！）をいただきました。帰りにロールケーキを持ち帰り。あんなにふんわりしっとりした生地は絶対にベルリンでは食べられないだろうなぁ。他にもマクロビマフィンなんていうのもあって、またいつか行く機会があったらトライしてみたいです。

日本に来てからこうしてよくラアナン連れて観光に出かけてます。一人で帰ってきてたらなかなか行かないような所ばかり。懐かしさと新鮮さが混じった感覚がいつもあります。あと２週間の滞在。あっという間に出発の日になりそうです。

日光　Nikko

東京から離れて日光へ行ってきました。温泉と日光東照宮がメインの一泊二日の小旅行です。東照宮、行く前に写真で見た感じではゴテゴテしててなんだかピンとこなかったけど、実物を見たら、ただただすごい！細かい！このゴテゴテ振りは圧巻でした。ラアナンは日本に来てから見たどんな寺やら神社よりもワォ！を連発してました（私も）。この日の日光は寒くて、東照宮に着いたあたりからさらさらと粉雪が降っていて（最初スギ花粉かと思った）、それが妙にマッチしていてかなり素敵でした。



そして本日の温泉宿へ。各部屋に専用の露天風呂がついているのです！外は雪！雪景色見ながら露天風呂なんて素敵ねぇ、と思いつつ足を入れたら熱い！そして外はマイナス５度で寒い！水をジャージャー入れて調節。硫黄の匂い、ひさびさに嗅ぎました。日本にいるんだなぁと実感。一泊二日で３回ほど入りました（温泉宿っていうのは温泉に浸かる以外これといってやることがないんですね。。）。よるご飯はもりだくさん。湯葉料理やら刺身やら霜降り牛の鍋やら蕎麦やら穴子のお茶漬けやら。写真を撮るのを忘れました。朝ご飯（写真右）は撮りました。



前の日に深々と降り積もった雪が止んで快晴（３０センチは積もってました）！中禅寺湖（写真右）に山が反射してました。車を止めてしばらく湖沿いを歩いて写真を撮ったりしつつ、家路につきました。そうそう行きに金谷ホテル（写真左）によってランチを食べたりもしました。この２日で撮った写真を見るとどれも素敵なものばかりです。なので今日は写真多めです。そうそう、ラアナン、浴衣が似合ってました。持って帰りたがっていましたがそこはきちんと、できないと説明しておきました。持って帰れたとして、どこで着るつもりだったのか。。

Well, Nikko. Nikko is an UNESCO world-heritage site, located north to tokyo. We took a large car, a lot of good mood, some food, cookies for Kiyu and ourselves, and went on a lovely trip.
I am going to use the pictures rie posted, so, take a good look there and come back :-).
At first we went to eat (i think i mentioned already that food is extremely important here), and then went to the Nikko Shrine. I am not going to get into the history of japan, Samurais and other things, i would just recommend to go there and experience it with your own eyes. What people could do with wood 1000 years ago still shocks me. I think no one today has the patience to construct something like this. The careful details on each and every aspect of those amazing colony-buildings is amazing. I enjoyed quite a lot, even thou i had to remove my shoes. Twice. It takes a lot of time, removing the shoes all the time. I wonder what the samurais would do if they had to go really quick to fight some war or something. What shoes would they wear quick enough to react? ... The things that i think of...
Anyhow, after that we went to our Onsen hotel. Onsen are baths with warm water that emerges from the earth itself (the form of hot spring in japan). There are many of those hotels scattered throughout japan, if you like this kind of experience, you should try. The onsens are not only hotel based, there are public ones too, just pay attention that you will require to be somewhat naked, surrounded by other people whom you don't quite know...
Anyhow, our onsen was right on the porch of our room (as seen in picture-strip number 2! :-) ). The water temperature was ca. 60 degrees, even though outside was around -2 degrees and heavily snowing. It quite an experience, to go into a very warm bath outside. Just a note, 60 degrees water are too hot, don't try this at home or anything. We had to add cold water to the bath to be able to just get in there...
The 2Nd picture on the 2nd strip is the japanese breakfast, which i skipped. I took the continental breakfast, which, not as in many London hotels (Now, why would they think continental is bread and butter?!), was actually rich and tasty!
Oh, and in this hotel we got this cool japanese outfit, which i wore to dinner and breakfast. Sorry, no picture attached to this, i will just let you imagine.
On the way to the hotel and back from it, we passed a very famous japanese road. This road has in total 48 big turns (big are ca. 180 degrees turn), 21 on the way there and 27 on the way back (two different roads), which together, represent the 48 old hiragana order (the japanese simple characters). So, every turn there was a sign with a number, a character, and a flower. The view from this road, which was only visible to us on the way back (the way there war very snowy) was amazing. All white, with lot's of lakes and mountains and endless terrains. The area is also famous for some kind of a famous samurai fight, but i wasn't getting into that too much.
Anyhow, on the way back we ate some good local Soba noodles and arrived home happy and tired.
I have so much more to write, but... well, just accept the fact that this can easily go into your to-visit-before-i-die list.
