世界的に有名（らしい。例えば「植物園」をWikipediaで検索するとこのベルリンの植物園の写真がでてきたり）なベルリンのダーレム植物園に行ってきました。ダーレムは私たちが最近引っ越してきたシュテーグリッツの隣の地区です。なぜこの植物園がそんなに有名かというと、まずは大きさ。ドイツで一番大きい植物園です。迷子になってしまうくらいです。４３ヘクタールあるそうです。そして世界一大きな温室がここにはあります。残念ながら一番大きい温室は今は工事中でした。が、他にも温室はたくさんあって、その半分を見ただけで広くて暑くて出てきてしまいました。。亜熱帯の植物がたくさんあります。

そんな温室の中に、世界で一番大きな花Titan arum（日本名スマトラオオコンニャク）があります(左の写真）。本当に大きい。１メートル以上はありました。この花はインドネシアに生息しているらしいです。７年に１度２日間しか咲かないそうです。

野外にはアジア、ヨーロッパ、アメリカエリアがあって、それぞれの土地から植物をわざわざ持ってきて移植されています。こんなヨーロッパの真ん中でアジアの植物が育つなんて不思議ですが、大きな木たちはちゃんと根付いています。そもそもこのダーレム植物園は１００年以上の歴史があるようです。

薬草のエリアもあって、ホメオパシーのレメディに使われている花をいくつか見かけました。こうして実際レメディになるものを身近み見ることができるのは、すごく良い勉強になります。この薬草エリアは何に効くかによって場所分けされているところも、なかなか良いです。肌、胃腸、心臓、風邪症状といった具合に。

とにかく広いこの植物園。奥の方に行くとトトロの世界のような森が広がっていたり、温室の周りには不思議の国のアリス的な庭園（上の写真）があったりと一日いても飽きません。ランチを持ってピクニックに行くのもいいし、本とノートを持って勉強しに行くのもいい場所です。幾度に新しい発見がありそうです。入園料は大人５ユーロ（学生は２．５ユーロ）で１年券は６０ユーロ（学生は２０ユーロ）です。

Yup! Better late than never! We haven't wrote for a long time (well, rie was writing for the last few days, but i didn't...). We moved an apartment and had  alot to do, but now we are (somehow) settled so we have some time to update this lovely blog. Hi everyone!!
So, we went to Berlin's botanical garden, something we planned on doing for quite a long time. Berlin has a lot of huge gardens, there is the international garden (which has chinese, japanese, italian and other gardens... no israel garden thou, it might get dried too quick). The other big garden is this botanical garden located on the border of Steglitz and Dahlem.
If you like plants and trees and special green stuff with weird Latin names, you will feel wonderful in this garden. It's like a zoo, but for plants... They have everything. Asian section, american section, medical plants section, huge greenhouses etc etc' As we walked in,there was a huge sign saying that there is a "Sensation" somewhere, so we went to check it. We walked through many greenhouses, until we arrived to their sensational plant. Apparently they have there the biggest Flower in the world, from Indonesia. This flower blooms once every 7(!!!) years, and it is blooming now in the garden! Wow! But... it's just a big flower. Again, i guess i would be excited if i was a flower-freak, but i am not... They say (in Wikipedia!!! Here is the value of this flower "Titan arum") that when it really blooms, it stinks. Luckily we got there before. You can see it in the left lower picture, where rie is writing.
We toured around in the park, saw a lot of lovely trees and ate lunch, which was really nice...
The entrance fee is 5 euro for regular people. There are also tickets for special people (like me, i paid only 2.5!), and there is an annual ticket, which lets you go in the garden whenever you want and enjoy the glamourus Titan Arum and others. A recommended tour for those who like to see a lot of green.
