ベルリンに２店舗あるSALOMON BAGELS。今回行ったのは本店です。前にもう一つのほう、ポツダマープラッツのショッピングモールに入ってる支店に行ったことがあって、その時は別にピンとこなかったのです。今回用事があってシャルロッテンブルグに行ったら、このSALOMON本店がこじんまりとあってビックリしました。ここだったのか！と。本店、かなりオススメです！

店内の壁が黄緑色でとてもかわいい、こじんまりしたカフェです。Prenzlauerbergにでもありそうな雰囲気です。さてさて、まずベーグルの中身を決めます。サーモンとクリームチーズという定番からチキンのソテーや朝ご飯セットもあります。数種類の自家製クリームチーズもありました。私が選んだのはフムス（写真）。普通、フムスというとタヒニ（ゴマのペースト）が入ってますが、これはタヒニ抜きでひよこ豆のマッシュといった感じ。ベーグルをかじっても溢れ出て来るようなことがなく、きれいに食べられる。気が利いてます。中身を選んだら今度はベーグルを選びます。全部で１０種類ほどあります。そのうち甘いのは２種、ブルーベリーとシナモンレーズン。私は全粒粉のベーグルを選びました。ほんのり甘くてもちもちしたベーグル。温めて出してくれます。本当においしいベーグルです。ベルリンでこんなおいしいのが食べられるなんて！前に食べたポツダマーのほうのはなんだったの？てくらい違った。運もあるんでしょうが。帰りにシナモンレーズンのとタマネギのベーグルを持ち帰りました。帰って一口齧ってみたらこれもまたおいしい！トーストして食べたらもっとおいしいはずだよ！と言いながら、トーストする間もなく完食でした。。

ベーグルはオーストリアのユダヤ人によって昔々作られたのが始まりです。だからユダヤ系の人が作るベーグルは本物。言ってみればイタリア人の作るピザとかフランス人の作るマカロンとか。おいしいのです。このSALOMON BAGELSがあるのはシャルロッテンブルグのユダヤ人コミュニティのあるエリアです。近所に大きなシナゴーグがあります。このベーグル屋さんは「Jewish sites in berlin」というユダヤ教関連の場所がたくさん載った本にも紹介されていたので、オーナーはユダヤ系の人でしょう。ユダヤ系のベーグルがおいしい！というのは、ロンドンでも経験済みです。ブリックレインにある有名なベーグル屋さん、行ってみたらお店の人みんなヘブライ語話してた、という。ここのベーグルの為だけにロンドン嫌いだけどまた行きたいくらいです。でも、今はSALOMONがあるので、とりあえずここに通います。（ビオとは関係ないのですが、ヴィーガン仕様のベーグルがあるってことで。コーシャーですし。。）

So, there are good bagels in Berlin!
Bagels were (as many other good things) invented by jewish merchants a long long time ago. The whole in the middle was actually only helping them to carry their creations from place to place. It is said, that it is the ideal bread for shabat (saturday, the jewish holy day). In israel, bagels are not so popular. We prefer pita, for some reason, but in the USA it is very famous.
This bagel shop we actually found in a small booklet with the title "jewish sites in berlin" that we bought in the jewish museum. They are not quite bio, and are not entirely vegan (The only vegan bagel was hummus bagel! ...) but really really tasty. They have a few brances in Berlin (3 to be exact), one of them in the Potsdamer Platz arcaden, a very famous touristic shopping mall. I'd recommend the salmon bagel (nothing to do with the name of the shop :-) ). But you can of course choose any other, along with your favorite type of bagel. they have a lot, both sweet and salty...

I always feel like I didn't write enough. Especially when i think about the fact that most of the characters above the english ones are actually representing more than one letter, or even a word at some cases. So rie is writing a lot more! I wonder what she wrote about this time, except for bagels...
